The Bleeper part two

Thank you all for the outpouring of support and love since yesterday's post. It really has warmed my heart and made me feel better about all of this.

I am who I am and will not apologize for that. I am fiery, very verbal, emotional and animated. That is me, not a show. And I like me very much. Yep, I cuss sometimes. I am human. Yep, I get mad and frustrated. I am human. I use a lot of colorful language to express myself, but most often it is safe words like frap, frig, crapola and things like that. Do I say real cuss words? Yes. Is how they portrayed me on the show true to me? No.

There are some in the comment section of my blog that still feel the need to judge and chastise me. So be it. If my blog and TV appearances offend you, then stay away. And if you are too much of a coward to use your name when posting, then what does that say about your integrity and character?

I know I have set myself up in the public eye to be criticized. And I cannot have everyone like me. That is fine. I have never portrayed myself as a saint, perfect, or free of flaws. I am a cake decorator who wishes to share my love and passion of the art with the rest of you, and try to make a little bit of a living while doing it.

When I no longer deliver good quality cake decorating instruction at a valuable price, then all criticisms will be warranted on that topic.

That is the last I will say on this subject. Thank you again for the overwhelming support. Now back to the fun stuff!

Love you, Sharon

Keep your head up! Your work is so beautiful, and even though I don't "know" you, I watch your DVD's so much I feel like I do. Who doesn't let a word slip a time or two. You're awesome! I love your cakes, and I find you entertaining. I also have young children, and frankly my 3 year old wouldn't of known what you were NOT saying anyway :) We watched the show with her in there, and would do it again! If the posters child knew what you were saying, its cause they've heard it over and over again somewhere else! Before I end this I'd like to point out that even though they weren't the words you were using, the previews of the show showed the bleeps! If the poster was so concerned she would of viewed the show FIRST and then decided to let her children watch or not to watch. Just someone trying to ruffle your feathers! I hope you don't let them get to you anymore! Again, I think you're great, and human!

I just had to comment on this...I enjoyed the show!! And LOVED your cake!! I, personally, think the bleeps must be a "southern" thing. I told my husband (who has had to listen to a few bleeps of mine while I'm cakin') that that's how us southern girls cake! However.....thanks to ALL of your DVD's there has been a few less (ok alot less) bleeps in my kitchen. My husband thanks you. :) Get a grip people - there are sooooo many problems in the world and this is NOT one. Sharon - aren't we blessed to live in Louisiana, we know the difference, don't we! PS: Hope to see ya in Texas, I hope to make a class! Yeee Hawww!

That's horrible the way they're allowed to twist and manipulate reality in order to gain higher ratings. I will keep this in mind when I watch the show tonight.

Thanks for setting the record straight!

Sharon we *bleep'n* LOVE YOU!! I just ordered your latest DVD set and cannot wait for it to arrive. You were phenomenal on the show. Who cares what others think! Cowards and those who are jealous ALWAYS post under Anonymous. I can't WAIT to finally meet you at the cake show here in Virginia next weekend!!! SUPER EXCITED to stop by your vendor table!! =)

As a Christian, I try to walk the straight and narrow. Note that the key word is TRY! None of us are perfect and I will tell you that my mouth is a weakess. This being said, I don't try to raise my children in an environment away from the "world." To keep my children away from anything that isn't perfect is setting them up for failure. That mom better watch it or her kids will go really wild when they're older!

I LOVE all of your work. You are an inspiration and a role model. If I could afford them, I would have ALL of your DVDs. I purchase as I have the money and immediate need. PLEASE do not allow people with their own agendas to stop the great service that you offer and inspiration that you provide!

We love you Sharon!

I'm mad that they bleeped you, I would have loved to hear you say "crapola" on tv! haha
You have tons of people who adore you...forget all the haters! :)

Sharon, I can definitely understand why having someone judge you stings so badly. Regardless of what you said or didn't say, I love you! You've been a blessing to our family.

People who say things in judgment others need to remember that when you point a finger at someone, there are 4 more pointing back at yourselves. No one is perfect and those who claim to be are dilusional!

Its sad that some people are so self-righteous, in their own "rite", to chasten you with a simple matter of your choice of words. Need we remind others that we all say unsavory things (in the eyes of some) and your curse words are nothing more than a sign of frustration. I myself have quipped out four lettered words, yet,I attest its far less flattering to call someone out on a matter like this, as if you are "out classed" compared to them. Don't apologize, no need! If people were disgusted with you, they should just blot you out of their pure minds!! I think you are wonderful, your work is a phenom in itself, & I am a wee bit jealous (haha). The people who do the berating are more often inferior to others--- thus--- a tounge lashing to another is pleasing to them, boosting their insignificant ego! Again, thanks for all you do & keep going strong!
Respectfully,
Tracy White

You did good girl. I can't even imagine what I would have said if I had to go through first the fondant acting up and then not one, but two sit-outs, plus assorted other things. I don't know if I have ever said the word crapola, but I can assure you, I have said much worse! When my husband entered the room while I was watching the show, he actually thought I personally knew you the way I was cheering you on. When I explained that I had never met you, but watch your DVD's constantly, he knew exactly who you were. He stayed for the rest of the show and we both thought you should have won. Thank you for all you do -- I am so looking forward to your blog about the show.

Sharon,

Your cake was beautiful. You so should have won. I was laughing when they kept bleeping you. That's our Sharon. Ignore the grouch!

Great Job Sharon!!! Your cake was the best!!

Your cake was the best! It so should of won! None of the others came close. We are all human and a bleep or two is normal! "If you are a cakin, you are going to be bleepen"!
Those who be hatin are not worth your time or thoughts. Keep up the excellent job you do.

I was so excited to see you on the show and you did not disappoint!! You are a fabulous decorator, and your fiestiness is exactly one of the many reasons I love you! Hold your head high--you produced a gorgeous cake under incredibly difficult and unrealistic circumstances. You should've won by a longshot, btw!

Lisa Mann said...

Loved the episode-it made me mad to see them bleeping when you clearly weren't cussing. Guess that's the reality of reality tv for you-gotta start a drama. You and your team pulled off an amazing cake-even with an hour sitting out I think you guys did the best job there! Love you!

I am hoping the next post will contain the details and have pictures of your beautiful, CLEAN cake! The negativity regarding the editing etc., in my mind cannot over shadow how truly impressed I am with you and your team, as I think that that was the cleanest cake that they have ever had on the show!!! I have all of your instructional DVDs, except for the new one which I plan to get soon. I want you to know that BECAUSE of the work you did on the show I will continue to buy them! I was IMPRESSED!!!!!!! :)

I have the show taped but haven't had time to watch it. I am sorry to hear that the show was edited the way it was but anyone with have a brain already knows thats the reality of TV, especially so called reality television.
I hope to see you on one of Food Network's cake challenges. I think you are awesome and an inspiration to wanna be cakers everywhere.

Oh well, it is now), not to mention your incredible gift of decorating, makes you SO MUCH FUN to watch! My family and I were peeled to the TV and rooting you on, every "bleepin'" step of the way! Your are and always will be in my eyes an incredible human being! We've never met, yet I can tell from our brief communications online that you are sincere and genuine. You are an amazing teacher and sugar artist - something I aspire to be! I currently work in a jib where I speak with truck driver's daily - the few collourful words you said on UCO are NOTHING compared to what I hear daily! If people don't like what they see, they shouldn't look! Keep up the great work, and there are more fans than haters out there - good on ya!

Sharon,

I do not think anyone has done more for us aspiring cake decorators than you have. I truly appreciate all that you have done & all that you contribute. Did "anoynomous" ever hear the saying "People in glass houses, should not throw stones"? Stay just as you are - you are loved & revered!

Sharon, I have bought your DVD's and you have helped me to become a better cake decorator. Thank you so much. Can I take that a way from you for having a few minutes where you show your human side. No, we all have those moments. I know there are some who have gotten better at handling it. I myself am still working on it. Thank you again for all you have done in the cake decorating world.

Never posted before, but I just wanted to thank you for your honesty. I do not believe "reality" tv exists....it's the reality that the producers want you to see and believe.

No judgement on my part. You are amazingly talented and inspiring and I've been enjoying the DVD's tremendously.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Sharon, I saw the show and didn't even notice änything wrong. I was only upset you didn't win! Now, since I read your post and all this is happening. Would you ever do the show again?

missi barrett said...

Sharon - I watched the show and didn't even notice the beeps. My husband is in Iraq and we like to say that I haven't learned new cuss words, just more ways to use the ones I already know. lol. I'm alone when i do this though usually. I can't imagine the stress of doing a show like that. I'd probably sound like morse code. lol. You were a wonderful competitor and I loved watching your team. (i really thought you should have won, but i wasn't a judge unfortunately =-))
Keep decorating like you do and let them beep all they want in editing. And please tell Anonymous that the beauty of tv is that you are free to CHANGE THE CHANNEL when you don't like/ agree with something - lmao

Hi Sharon,
I just ran into your blog following the cake crumb trail from cakecentral.com and I am so excited to find that I have "discovered" the "fiesty" belle. I watched your episode of the show and laughed my butt off, you are one funny lady. Because of your awesome skills and your admirable "potty" mouth I am honored to share my favorite cuss. It is completely made up by me and is so very fun to say, "freak-a-nelly-hannah-pisser" Say it fast, slow it down and punctuate each word, or even break it down and mix it up! You are welcome to add that to your collection and use it well. No shame in being true to who you are, cause you seem pretty cool just as you are. You go girl!

Missed the episode when it aired, but just finished watching it tonight on the website and I thought it was great because you were REAL and true to yourself. Your cake looked awesome! Especially since your team had to sit out twice for 30 minutes. If that happened to me, I would have been swearing so much that all you got to hear are bleeps. You are awesome so keep up the wonderful work!

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH SHARON, IF HER BOLG AND TV APPEARANCES OFFEND PEOPLE STAY AWAY, HALF OF THESE PEOPLE THAT MAKE COMPLAINS, CUSS INDECIENT LANUAGES TO THEIR KIDS, AND HAVE THEIR KIDS WHATC TV SHOWS AND MOVIES, AND LISTEN TO RAP MUSIC WITH ALL THE BAD WORDS, AND I AM SORRY RO SAY SOME PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY CRITIZE OTHERS, WHEN THEY HAVE THEIR OWN DIRTY HABBITS, BUT DON'T LOOK AT IT FIRST. SO BIG UP TO YOU SHARON. I LOVE YOU AND YOUR WORK

loved the potty mouth! Reminded me sooo much of myself! Keep up the great work!

I do not know if bleeps are a Southern thing because if that was me on the show I would have been bleeped the whole time. What is seen on TV should be taken with a grain of salt. I was bleeping along with you when you had to sit out a second time. How stressfull.
Proud to be a cussing Canadian.

I did noticed the beeps... funny how they only show Sharon's beeps and painted the others as angels.... I know how TV works... they need to make it interesting and have some moments that make people "react".... You were amazing... your team was incredible and YOU HAD THE BEST LOOKING CAKE.. I don't care what anyone else says... AND
if it was a cake for a circus.... then it's okay to have 4 jack in the box pop out of the cake... but that wasn't the case at all.... you won... but I know u will be asked back.... I know they saw how good you are and u will be called back! LOVE YA!

...so you must be on your way to stardom...it is NOT what they are saying about you, but the fact they are TALKING about you...that is the best advertisement anyone can have...so sit back and enjoy your 15, 30, or 45 minutes of fame...how fun is that?????

I just want you to know I was not offended by anything you said, as a matter of fact, I did not notice anything offensive! I enjoyed the show and enjoyed you and love your work. I have 2 of your DVD's and plan to order all of them. The 2 I have taught me so much, I am so thankful for them, such a VALUABLE resource. When I watch the shows, I am focusing on the cakes, designs, styles, tips, etc, not on if or how many cuss words someone is saying. And it is Television. Keep up the EXCELLENT work and keep making those DVD's! I love them and think you are simply awesome! - Julie

Sorry to hear about how things have been manipulated! I don't get the show where I live, but I do know that no matter where you are, reality TV isn't really that real! Producers are always finding ways to get highest TRP's
