What could they be working on?

GUESS THE PROJECT CONTEST!

Yesterday I spent the day at the office studio of my video production company, Video Specialties. We are working on our next release, to be ready within about 2 months we hope. This is not one of the two instructional DVDs we have in progress. This is a "lagniappe" (or bonus) release. Can anybody guess what it might be? I will take all the correct guesses and put them into a hat for a drawing. The winner will get a free copy of this project. Put your thinking caps on and email or submit your guesses right here in the comment section at the bottom of this post!

Working hard, trusty Diet Coke at hand.

My hero, Todd. The best video guy out there!

I do not let many people see me with no makeup,
so don't show these pictures to anyone ok?

Tomorrow I am off to New York to teach ICES mini classes. Have a great weekend and I will check in with you guys next week!

Happy Caking,
Sharon

I am guessing it's fondant cuts outs for side decorations and detailing on the cake and bows because you always seem to do more than one Lagniappe. Whatever it is I'm sure it will be fabulous!

Victoria said...

Don't worry about that makeup. Your inner beauty shines through!
I'm going to be a little more specific and guess carving of some sort. Have fun whatever it is!

You have said that your new DVD is Lagniappe (extra info) therefore I am going to guess that it has to do with modifying cakes such as to achieve topsy turvy cakes, other shapes, adding/making bows and swags, and adding other fondant decorations.

Thank you so much for all that you do. I am thankful for the gifts and talents that God has given to you and that you so willingly share with the rest of us. I have learned so much from your first 3 DVDs and look forward to learning much more.

I am also very thankful that you as a professional have shared that you run into problems when you are doing cakes despite your many years of experience. I find that each cake is a learning experience/adventure. You never know what might happen despite having followed the same techniques over and over again. Your cake was a success as usual and very stunning!

I would also be interested, please, in knowing the names of the books, DVDs and the online course that you are taking to improve your photography skills. This is something that has been on my mind to do also.

Thanks Sharon! Have a great day!

I'm betting on Gumpaste Flowers

Melanie said...

I am thinking it might be something about presentation, perhaps how you set up cake tables, perhaps what you take along with you to cake deliveries (like your emergency repair kit)..that sort of thing. You look great by the way!

Ann (Miss Sweetstory) said...

Bows and "harlequin" fondant design???

BTW, throw your makeup away...you look awesome without any!

DARLENE said...

I WOULD ALSO GUESS TOPSY TURVY CAKES.

Robyn D said...

I soooooooo am hoping topsy turvy cakes. Although, I have made a few of these.....problem is, they were not supposed to be topsy turvy.....they just ended up that way by mistake! LOL So, I need to know how to truly do one. Topsy Turvy would be my hope and guess for what you are doing next!

Gayla said...

I think Topsy Turvy cakes will be your next production, hope so anyway.

BTW wished I looked as good as you do without make up -- you go girl!

Adele said...

This isn't it I'm sure but I want directions to make a Mardi Gras/cajun themed wedding cake with gumpaste crawfish bride and groom topper cause I promised a friend I'd make her one. She also wants an accordion grooms cake because her cajun fiance plays in a Zydeco band.

Troubles said...

hmmf! Could it be a video on how to make a Topsy Turvy Cake the Z way?

chefquin said...

I think it could be a video on extra decorations like cutouts, flowers or swags. Just a little something extra for your cakes. But, I'm also thinking maybe recipes for some really great cakes or instructions on how to get your cakes perfect for decorating.

Jessica N. said...

I am guessing Topsy Turvy cakes, but am hoping (praying) for gum paste flowers or a cookbook full of your recipes!!

Marilyn said...

I am hoping it's on gumpaste in general, or gumpaste flowers, or gumpaste bows. Is that more than one guess? If so, then I will say gumpaste! Now that I think of it, could it be gumpaste figures, or maybe just plane modeling, which would be my second guess, modeling paste!

White in NY there are several places you need to visit. Angel's is on the upper east side and they smoke their mozzarella, it smells wonderful when you walk in. Then there is Arties, which I personally think is the best Deli in NY. You have to get a black and white there. OMG, I could go on forever. I really miss New York.

Marilyn said...

Ut Oh!, more misspelled words(sigh) Please excuse my spelling, sometimes my brain is faster than my hands, what I meant is my hands are faster than my brain, now I am embarrassed.

Now that I have read everything, maybe it is topsy turvy, hmm... do we have to pick just one?

SharonG said...

I am going to guess "How to make some of the decorations that you have done on your cakes" or "How to make a box cake and bow".

I would also like to say, Thank You! so very much for all that you have done and shared with so many.

I have learn so much from you, that has help me to try and do better and do my best. I wish you nothing but the very best in the days and years to come. You rock it girl!

By the way, you look great! without the make up.

Unknown said...

Im going to guess something working with chocolate.
Im sure what ever it is I will end up buying it anyways! Your dvd's are loaded with so much information, and not just the rehashed stuff you normally see! I think thats why I love them so much!

Anonymous said...

I'll take a shot at it -- I'm guessing tips on transporting cakes.

Unknown said...

How about food photography tips?

I think modeling. It has become so popular now. It's quite the focus in Austrailia and UK, so I think it will be modeling.

Anonymous said...

I'm hoping this project will be about building a Box Cake...and additional info and tips for transporting and set up.
No matter what project it is, I know it will be on my list of "must haves"!!

Yeah...another DVD for my collection! Can't wait to get them. I've tried countless times to make bows (all unsuccessful, of course), but with your teaching skills, there might be hope for me yet!

So glad to see Wendy, too! Yep, she's a terrific friend!
